Root canal treatment is a dental procedure used to treat infection or damage within the inner portion of a tooth, known as the pulp. The pulp contains nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue that help support the tooth during development. When the pulp becomes infected due to deep decay, cracks, or injury, it can cause severe pain and lead to serious dental complications if left untreated.

During a root canal procedure, the dentist carefully removes the infected or damaged pulp from inside the tooth. The inner chambers and root canals are then cleaned, disinfected, and shaped to remove bacteria and prevent further infection. Once the tooth is thoroughly cleaned, the space is filled with a special material that seals the canals and protects the tooth from future infection.
