Our Commitment to Accessibility
Midwest Family Dental Care is committed to ensuring that our website, midwestfamilydentalcare.com, is accessible to all visitors, including individuals with visual, hearing, cognitive, or motor impairments. We believe that every patient deserves equal access to our services, information, and online resources.
We are actively working to improve the accessibility of our website and to align with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Applicable Standards
As a healthcare provider that accepts Medicaid and operates across Michigan and Indiana, we are committed to complying with:
- ADA Title III — Americans with Disabilities Act, which requires places of public accommodation to be accessible to individuals with disabilities
- Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) — which prohibits discrimination in health programs and activities, including digital platforms
- Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act — accessibility standards for electronic and information technology
- WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the internationally recognised web accessibility guidelines
Current Accessibility Features
We have implemented the following accessibility features on our website:
- A “Skip to Content” link at the top of every page to allow keyboard users to bypass navigation
- Descriptive alt text on images throughout the site
- Logical heading structure (H1, H2, H3) for screen reader navigation
- Sufficient colour contrast ratios meeting WCAG 2.1 AA standards
- Responsive design that works across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices
- Keyboard-navigable menus and interactive elements
- HTTPS secure connection across all pages
Known Limitations
While we strive to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards across our entire website, we are aware of the following areas currently under remediation:
- Online appointment form: Our appointment booking form relies on JavaScript. We are working to ensure it is fully accessible to keyboard-only users and screen readers. In the meantime, please use the phone numbers below to book an appointment.
- Embedded Google Maps: Interactive map embeds on our Locations pages may have limited accessibility for keyboard and screen reader users. Addresses and phone numbers are provided as text alternatives on all location pages.
- Third-party content: Some content provided by third-party services (such as financing providers) may not fully meet our accessibility standards. We are working with these vendors to improve accessibility.
