The office of Midwest Family Dental Care provides a wide range of treatments to help restore your dental health to its optimal state. One of the restorative solutions we offer is high-quality crowns and bridges made of porcelain and zirconia. These are great options for damage caused by trauma, wear and tear, and disease.
A dental crown or “cap” is a restorative appliance placed over a natural tooth that can be used to repair teeth affected by decay and trauma. A crown can also act as an effective replacement for a missing tooth and a protective shield for a tooth that has undergone root canal therapy. Crowns are custom-made to match the color, shape and size of your natural teeth. Once they have been installed in the mouth, they will look and feel like a natural tooth.
A dental bridge is used to fill in the gap created by one missing tooth or several consecutive missing teeth in the mouth. The two ends of a bridge are attached to the natural teeth on both sides of the space. Fixing a dental bridge in the mouth not only helps with daily functions such as chewing and biting but also prevents the other natural teeth near the space from shifting their positions, thereby preventing possible bite issues and other problems.
When installing a dental crown or bridge, you will receive appropriate anesthesia, and your tooth or teeth will be prepared by removing part of the enamel. An impression of the teeth is taken and sent to our onsite lab where your restoration will be custom-made.
